Behind the well-spotted Lucite front door of the 1958 mod above, living and dining room spaces wrap full-circle around an open-from-all-sides central kitchen. The home, full of floor-to-ceiling mirror walls and other retro finishes, was put on the market in June at just under $1.1 million, took a quick break in early October, and was put back up for sale a week ago with the current asking price of $975,000. Journey onward to check out the house’s eclectic light fixtures, the 3-ish bedrooms, and the guest suite out back by the pool:

The front door opens to a mirrored wall partitioning off the kitchen:

To the left of the entrance, the 3 wise men appear to any wanderers following the glow of the stained-glass light fixtures:

An open living room space branches off from the smaller entryway space:

The living room extends to a slightly raised dining room and kitchen-side bar, lined with mirrors on one side and windows to the back patio on another:

The kitchen is open via doorway or pass-through from all 4 sides; an angled brick extension holds the vent and light system over the range by the oven:

Another breakfast or dining space on the other side of the kitchen opens out to the back through some sliding glass doors:

The same space opens to the built-in window-side seating the entryway, with the bedrooms tucked away somewhere through the doorway to the left:

The toilet-side phone matches the dusty rose shades of the sink, bidet, and tub, creating opportunities for dialogue amid periods of otherwise isolated reflection:

Out back, a separate guest suite sits by the pool:

  • They are out of their minds if they think they are going to get that much for that house.

  • I would have to strip that house bare…

  • The front door is THE BOMB.
    The pool-side umbrella is bang’n!
Much of the rest of the house makes me gag a little bit.

  • OH also! I love the holly (I think) pruned into Whoville shapes!
I’ve done the same with yaupon in my front yard.

  • Parts of the house are a little tacky-mod (I’m not big on the marble or the mirrors), but it’s a sweet house with some cool details. Warm the space up with some sweet original mid-century furniture and it’d be mega-swanky. And that front door is top 5 coolest front doors I’ve ever seen. One note: The stuff that’s the worst in the house is the stuff you can tell isn’t original and was “updated” to whatever was trendy at that time (see the brass finish shower surround, weird white tile in that odd room).
