  • “A man’s home is his castle” is just an expression, not a design requirement.

  • Another fine example that money does not equate to taste.

  • We’ll see who’s laughing when the Frankish start storming the gates.

  • Nice of them to name the road after Sideshow Bob. There should be 100 rakes placed in the back yard.

  • Native Houstonian, you know who always says that, people that have no money. And people who’s house is decorated from the “Home Decor” section of Target.

  • What absolutely hideous kitchen.

  • Target has some nice stuff these days.

  • @ Commonsense: Actually, I have a little bit of money. I also have a little bit of taste. And, with both of these, I can hire a designer that helps me blend that which I like and that which will be good for resale. These people obviously have a lot of money, but lack the taste and common sense to hire a designer that would help them make choices that would appeal to a broader audience. Just my two common cents.

  • That kitchen make me want to vomit. Everything in this house looks like a cheaper version of Restoration Hardware.

  • NH writes “these people obviously have a lot of money, but lack the taste and common sense to hire a designer that would help them make choices that would appeal to a broader audience.”

My guess is that “these people” would be the Realtor who haphazardly staged the place. This is a new build that has likely never been lived in by a family who had an opportunity to hire a designer (insert eye roll and exhausted sigh here).

  • Re-do the photography – check the photos while on site to review exposure and color. The home will still be overdone, but won’t hurt your eyes.

  • Home Depot chateau éclectique. Now we know the kind of décor commonsense likes.

  • Yes I do like me some of that action, especially the two SubZero fridges and the $10k Wolf stove.

  • My good friend lives across the street from that place. That house has no business on that lot or on that street. It was built as a spec house during the absolute peak of the market and the builder lived in it for about 6 months when he couldn’t sell it.

  • “Bennigan’s style dining”?
