  • Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

  • I’ve always wanted to live in The Max from Saved By The Bell.

  • Great timing as that Memphis Group looking stuff is making a comeback, but it might be awhile before it reaches the Meadows.

  • Interesting. I placed a deposit on one of these home when they were being built back around 1987 or so. We were attracted to these homes due to the nonstandard floorplans, plus they were affordable. The cheapest was around $101K. I became more and more concerned as I watched our future home being built and I did not like what I saw. Lots of little short-cuts. They installed the stucco by first stapling Styrofoam to the outside of the studs. The then placed chicken wire on the outside and over that put on the stucco. We decided to walk.

One year later the salesman called and asked if we might still be interested in the house. One night we then went and took a look. We could peer in the window and see that the inside was still awaiting carpet, but in the middle of the floor was a large puddle. ouch. We decided no way.

By the way the asking price and dropped from the $101K prebuild to $85K.

A couple of years later we heard that the builder of these homes was facing several law suits, if not a class action regarding the improper stucco application and mold problems that also developed in these homes.

  • Bubba is correct. After the lawsuits many of these homes were practically rebuilt from the inside out. Virtually all of them had to have their stucco replaced within five years.

  • The house already has a pending option! That guest bathroom is interesting. HAR says the lot size is under 5,000 SF.
