If you are interested or otherwise not opposed, please sign the petition to allow hens on small lots at http://www.change.org/petitions/city-of-houston-revise-city-ordinance-to-allow-chicken-coops-within-20-ft-of-a-residence. It is my understanding that (with the help of her mother) a 12 year old girl is leading the charge.
I have an amazing picture of the original owners of my last Heights house holding their pet chickens in the backyard. It seems the chickens slept in the crawl space under the pier and beam. I love that picture.
Love the idea of hens under the house (as long as they don’t peck at the insulation.) They’ll eat all the bugs they find too!
.
Also I love the pic accompanying this story.
