Hey! What happened to that neon sign at Huston’s Drugs? Artist Chris Bramel, who’s working to renovate the former pharmacy on Washington in the Old Sixth Ward into a space where he can live and work, explains: “The sign was claimed by the original owner and he’s going to hang it at his house or ranch.” To deal with the emptiness, Bramel is having a replacement sign built for him, he says, “and I will have that thing lighting up the street every night.”

You guys are so on top of it. I drove past a mere 2 hours ago and wondered where it went. Thanks for clearing something off of my internal “I wonder…” list :-)
Can’t wait to see the new sign
Well, it’s nice that it will be replaced.
I hope he is recreating that iconic sign right down the street. Thought it was lame the owners didn’t allow and require that sign to stay on the building as part of the sale.
loved the sign, i completely respect the previous owner taking it with them, but i’m going to miss seeing it!
While that sign may be owned by the gentleman in question, it also belonged to the City of Houston as a whole and will be missed.
Pangu!
