Swamplot’s Daily Demolition Report lists buildings that received City of Houston demolition permits the previous weekday.
We’re in too far to turn back now.

Seems like nothing gold can stay. The Kipling house had a lot of charm but needed fixing up. It harkened to a day when upper Kirby was a suburb of Houston. Frostwood will be getting another McMansion. A historic home in river oaks (Chevy chase) is getting the axe.

On another note, looks like live oak street in eado (or east end) is getting a fresh infusion of town home farms being planted on an entire street.
Although I strongly dislike the name and try not to use it, those teardowns on N. Live Oak are not in “Eado”. That is Second Ward. You probably have no idea what I’m talking about though.

BTW I heard they are building a fresh bunch of townhomes in Shady Acres. Any thoughts?
No thoughts specifically about the town homes in shady acres. They will probably be close to some good restaurants on 19th street which didn require massive subsidies to draw people to.

Eado = east of downtown and covered in town homes. Most people don’t still refer to the ward system unless it’s for some historical background on the area.
@commenter7 – there is nothing historic about a house built in 1950 with an 80’s remodel. That is just old. John Staub didnt build every house in RO. A bullet to the head of the improvement would benefit a lot of lots in RO.
“there is nothing historic about a house built in 1950 with an 80’s remodel. That is just old.” I can think of several historic houses built since 1950 with 80’s remodels that are very architecturally and culturally significant. The only way I would go along with the “nothing historic” statement is if it were a generic, if large, builder spec house that was extremely traditional.
“Most people don’t still refer to the ward system unless it’s for some historical background on the area.”
Interesting. You should probably let the idiots who post all these signs know about this.

Commenter7: what subsidies?
