I’m bummed to see that old strip mall pictured above demolished, as it has a cool Art Deco-ish design, though I do understand why it has to be torn down, what with the fires and all.
The shopping strip featured in the photo above was covered in a blog posting on Bayou City History. there’s a photo from better days.

I have been sadly watching that building deteriorate over the years. Would have been such a cool place.
I’m bummed too. That’s been one of my favorite buildings. I’ve passed it off and on all my life. Oh well, another one bites the dust.
That building was being used by the prostitutes and druggies that stumble around Airline between 610 and 45. It’s nice to see it burn, demolished, and make room for a new type of business. Of course, I’m sure their pimps and drug dealers relocated them to another dilapidated building in the area.
