Maybe because the Chronicle is journalism’s lowest commmon denominator. Thank god for Swamplot. Which prints the stories the Chronicle won’t. Particularly the ones involving our mayor.
If I was the editor of the Chronicle, I would have the comments removed completely. It makes this city look like a bunch of raging racists and hillbillies.

They only remove comments that are critical of the mayor. And if you ask why, you are told because you are a homophobe. Apparently it’s okay to be a racist or a hillbilly as long as you don’t criticize the mayor.
Yeah, but it keeps the racists and hillbillies page-clicking.
I read the chron comments as part of an ethnographic study.
