GAINING IN HOUSTON’S GAYBORHOODS 
So home prices are rising in urban areas — no surprise there. But nowhere are those prices rising faster than in so-called “gayborhoods.” That’s according to Jed Kolko, crunching the numbers for Trulia: “Neighborhoods where same-sex male couples account for more than 1% of all households (that’s three times the national average) had price increases, on average, of 13.8%. In neighborhoods where same-sex female couples account for more than 1% of all households, prices increased by 16.5% –– more than one-and-a-half times the national increase.” Prime Property’s Nancy Sarnoff adds that in Houston in Rosedale prices are up 16 percent and 14 percent in Hyde Park, where the 1920s Jackson Blvd. bungalow shown here is for sale for $425,000. to me everything is explained through numbers and economics. what you’re probably seeing here is the wealthier couples have the means and resources to move/congregate to ‘hoods where they;’ll feel included. that probably means the wealthier couples are disproportianately moving into the same ‘hoods with each other than the less wealthy population samples are able to so you end up with a lot of the more prominent gayhoods packed with all the wealthier couples. less wealthy population samples would not be able to perform the same feat.
so by default, yes the more prominent gayhoods are rising in value as are all other wealthy/urban areas in these cities.
correlations is certainly no causation though. it’s just another exmple of our modern-day income stratified cities.
Gay couples often “pioneer” moving into marginal neighborhoods. The correlation between gay couples moving in and home value increases has been around for a couple of decades.

You could equally say that prices went up in Houston neighborhoods where street names are US state names.

Superdave: Probably from Census data. The question on same sex couple status is now part of the process. As for the assumption that same sex couples are wealthy, that is pretty much a myth. There is usually more disposable income if they don’t have children, but I think you will find that as a group, since gay couples have none of the same tax benefits, etc. as straight couples,the assumption does not hold up.

Depending on your state, that was true until about 10:00 this morning.
And for Texas that means that the Tax situation is exactly the same now. Just get married out of state and file jointly.
wasn’t saying that the couples are any more wealthy than any other sub-groups. however, i would assume that the wealthy folks within this sub-group (and probably any other minute minorities for that matter) tend to congregate more centrally than wealthy folks in larger sub-groups.
and also, the ruling today didn’t touch Section 2 of DOMA so states still have the right to reject and not honor licenses from another state.
however, the amendment to section 3 means everyone will be able to pull federal benefits if married, regardless of whether the host state recognizes the marriage or not.
it’s still a big mess requiring a lot more litigation to sort out.
Who licenses religion or preacher legally allowed to marry? That step in the government process was skipped and we went straight to DOMA, which was an idiots test to see if the cattle would declare they were the creators of more human life on this earth. Those so called Greek gods, well that is the only program our genetic map that controls our own body knows…..notice they always used a Carrera Marble, a perfectly white base, since like a painter’s canvas the skin tone is always varied during our lifetime, not based on fake regional ethnic lies, it is affected by the chemical makeup inside of us and like lenses that darken in bright light we too tan and then return to a lighter human skin tone……no one was a slave that stayed in the sun all the time needing God to darken their skin to black, purple of create a Monarch fake system of crazy wanna be Angels, we are all from that same unknown, that proof of harmony and that we are and are not related to everything on this plant……we are the free, the only free being since we live in all four elements, being born from all four and living with all four inside of us…….Dresser-Rand…..never a Paul Rand or that insane political movement…….Perry was only an Agricultural Secretary and proof of that is he went to an all boy’s Prep School for Agriculture and Vet Science or animal medicine as we in the country and old FFA members call it….Texas A&M Prep and University…….Praire View was and is Blinn Junior College…..College is used in Junior or what we call the catch up step for those who were not zoned or choose not to attend a Prep School for University…….8th Grade is Senior Year, Eight years is plenty of time to teach all kids need to kow and to get them to 16, driving age and in to the work force or a study in a specific Science……not fake degrees or made up this year gone the next….A&M also handles our only way to a Realtor’s License which like a law or medical degree is a National Licensed Degree program, meaning, we are licensed after grad from A&M, not this Champions and blackmail fake continue education ripoff crap anymore with fake associations, which include HOA groups of boards of rulers over neighborhoods you stupid freaks!!!!!!! our escrow accounts required with all finance (and all you damn people better be in a 15 year mortgage RIGHT NOW!!!!!, well that pays your tax bill which includes city service which is water and trash and landscape duties of every damn easement, and all public streets and that includes those falsely gated things well, those are public roads…..that’s why Urban Living never could or would get approved to divide a 5,000 SF lot in to four smaller due to that road being under the minimum federal safety standard………..WAKE UP A**HOLES, free will, was a test to see who couldn’t wait in a straight line and be civil……..no jail or fake criminals, no one wants your used crap, they can go steal it from a store seven days a week in a box, it is called employee theft or the idea any of those people are being trained properly……..University is only for specific Sciences, those oil Company towers are for their High School Grad entry level workers, Customer Service Reps, was supposed to be for new Gas Stations that only carried the one clean burning fuel that was and is still rolling forward, a stable fuel that did not evaporate, causing consumer fake need, the gas pumps would be topped with glass and include a TV screen that linked to those customer service reps so they could say, Hi, Thank you for choosing Shell, how are you today, they would be satellite linked, to monitor their own damn stations which are branded with their own damn names and serviced by their own damn branded trucks, uniformed staff and never privately stolen owned!!!!!!!!!! reps make base $40k if they are good, well mannered and driven to grow up inside their company…….promote from within is the only path, NO GENIUS ONE CEO CRAP IT IS OVER!!!!!!!!!
