Comment of the Day: Without This Kind of Jewelry, the House Would be Naked

COMMENT OF THE DAY: WITHOUT THIS KIND OF JEWELRY, THE HOUSE WOULD BE NAKED “You have to look at Lick & Stick stone from the perspective of ‘given the low budget, what would have been an alternative?’ and most of the time it would be nothing, just bare stucco. So, on some level it’s better [to have] something than nothing.” [commonsense, commenting on Houston Home Listing Photo of the Day: Ragged Left] Illustration: Lulu

  • WTF–this is comment of the day–stucco is better than nothing?–uh ok, swamplot –slow day??

  • I tend to agree. More often than not when driving around the gulf coast one needs only to casually glance around to see examples of stucco gone horribly wrong. To do it correctly in this climate seems a daunting challenge to the home builders around here.

  • We’ve changed the headline.

  • When did wood or hardi siding become “naked?”

  • The illustration by Lulu is fantastic. Continue to laugh as I type this.

I believe if you carefully reread the comment you’ll see that the poster is equating using stucco with doing nothing and that stick-on stone veneer is better than stucco.

  • Some people lack reading comprehension abilities.

  • I prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a simple misreading.
