Swamplot’s Daily Demolition Report lists buildings that received City of Houston demolition permits the previous weekday city offices were open.
Is there a historic district in Chelsea Place? A couple demos says there is:
***
Commercial Structures
- Almeda Chateau Apartments, Bldg. 13, 10802 Kingspoint Rd. 77075 (boiler room)
Residences
- 3611 McIlhenny St. 77004 (Leeland Park)
- 7 Chelsea Blvd. 77006 (Chelsea Place Historical District)
- 7 1/2 Chelsea Blvd. 77006 (Chelsea Place Historical District)
- 1433 Alexander St. 77008 (shed)
- 7505 Jay St. 77028 (Homestead)
- 8405 Howton St. 77028 (East Houston; shed)
So maybe they’re going to put up historic townhomes at 7 Chelsea Place?
This building went down last week and I remember thinking “I didn’t see it on the Demo Report.”
Is there something fishy going on here? Can you receive a demo permit retroactively?
This building = 7 Chelsea Blvd.
Dunno about demolishing before permit is issued. But I do know that when they took down the Nissan dealership on the Katy Freeway a year or so back I was able to look at the already demolished and cleared site on StreetView the day the permit came up in the Daily Demo Report. So it certainly happens.
Another pretty old and unique home bite’s the dust in Houston, it makes me sick.
