That pic looks like a really nice building to just tear down. To just tear down something like that must be that areas own upscale version of gentrification and destroying the neighborhood.
Wow Meyerland will have 10 to 15 houses torn down in the next month from the flood that is a lot of home for one neighborhood.
IIRC, Solvay invited a selection of local architects to submit proposed fees to design their building and they selected the one that gave them the lowest price. This was around 1986 or so when the economy was in the toilet and architects were desperate. The blue building was the result.
I wonder if the Solvay building is recent enough to where the materials can be reused, instead of just getting the wrecking ball.
