  • The Sunset Blvd. house is so nice! The millwork is just beautiful. So sad to see homes like that get torn down.

  • What in the world is the matter with people. The Sunset house is lovely.

  • How does this house get torn down, while the one at the corner of bissonet and shepherd stands (leans) forever?

  • @Michelle, @ KB: insufficiently (faux-)Tuscan.

  • I think the people that are tearing down the Sunset Blvd. house should keep the front facade and mount it in the living room of the new build like a hunting trophy.

  • Probably torn down so some doctor can build another faux Mediterranean villa.

  • I tried to buy the Sunset house with the intention of preserving it, and was out bid by less than 10k.

  • For what it’s worth, I nominate Old School for comment of the day.

  • I believe there was an estate sale there a few weeks ago. The home had much to offer in the way of charm, woodwork, location. Thank heaven for the Galveston historic homes; forget anything historic in Houston! & JDB, sorry to hear you were outbid-clods.

  • This is a gorgeous house, but I know the people who rented it for a year and it’s brimming with mold.

  • The sunset house is getting deconstructed by the Houston Historic Salvage warehouse, so some of it will live on in other Houston homes. Check out their Facebook photos, there’s not much left for the bulldozer.
