So the site where the 21-story Ashby Highrise is going up appears to have been cleared now of the Maryland Manor apartments and bordered with a nice new fence, which appears to have been freshly tagged with some carefully considered —Â commentary? The reader who sends these photos suspects that the all-caps shout-outs to 2 of Houston’s most well-known towers showed up early this morning

I think the Yao Ming reference is a show of support for the project. Like Ming, the Ashby Highrise will be a highly valued source of inspiration for the commoners in its shadow. I’m glad people are finally coming together on this.

Sorry, I am a little slow. i dont get the oil one.
Come on out to Westbury. Traffic? No problem…

LOL
Yeah, slow here too…. either that or the graffiti was done my a guy who was “high” and not sure about what he wanted to convey.
Is this pro: oil, $$, tower and “asian ball bouncing power”?
Hope the tower’s skeleton doesn’t have as many issues as Yao’s did.
It is so strange that no neighbors witnessed this activity. I guess things like this are just routine in such a low brow, crime infested neighborhoods.

Lo: It’s spelled definitely
I am against graffiti/vandalism, I think it looks awful and more people should be punished for it. Tattoos are graffiti too, but that is a persons choice. my 2 cents
Graffiti is never ok–this is criminal– (most criminal is his/her poor spelling and lack of coherent thought)–pathetic
What poor spelling?
Do you spell Yao–yaaaaooooo–I don’t remember that on his jersey
yikes.
