Metalab recently collaborated on and completed this so-called “architectural folly” commissioned by those staunch advocates of play, The Art Guys. Dubbed the “Tumbling House,” the private playshack rests atop a 50-ft. galvanized arch of rolled pipe; the pipe spans much of the backyard and branches off into a manic jungle gym of swings, slides, monkey bars, and ladders. Metalab declined to give many more details about the project, since it’s a private thing and all, but you can see more photos of the whimsical whozee-whatzit from the firm’s blog:

Along the main arch, topsy-turvy “ghost houses” appear as though frozen in time, mimicking the playhouse’s tumble into place.

It’s cool to be negative in these comments, or at least not enthusiastic. But I have to say this is a pretty awesome little project. Very nice indeed! Metalab’s background as a custom metal fabrications shop shines through in all the right ways.
Since no public funds were hurt in making of this shenanigan, it’s all good.
I agree with you ZAW, but still wish they had included some ground floor retail. (Has that joke been killed yet?)
I agree, this is actually really cool–very creative–id love to see it in person
If this is on private property and is off limits to neighborhood kids, it is a sick act of cruelty. If kids (young and old) are allowed to play on it, it is simply amazing and my son will be there this weekend.
No need to flip this house.
Is this modeled after the depiction of the Ashby High Rise building on all those yellow signs and bumper stickers?
Looks awesome, but it’s missing the menacing teeth and those leering eyes.
That may be the coolest swing set of all time! (2nd photo)
I want a bigger version.
Wow … I would join my kids in the fun!!
I walked by this thing this morning. It’s really cool, but is on private land.
