WHAT’S GOING ON IN THERE? “For the last couple of months, the gray building on the corner of Houston Ave. and Summer St., on the same block as Dharma Cafe, has been under construction — mainly on the interior. Any word on what this will be?” [Swamplot inbox] Photo: Swamplot inbox
It’s the future home of Limb Design. http://limbdesign.com/future-nest.php
This picture is horrible. I can’t even tell what I am looking at.
Wow, nice! I’ve been wondering about this building too. Those before pics are crazy. I don’t want to think about what it smelled like in there…
Wow! Check out that old picture of the building from 1931! Amazing! Thanks for sharing, Jim.
exterior has plants today. i will try and grab a better picture on the way home.
I’m not sure that a better photo will really help. Here’s a Street View shot of the same building:

Fantastic, and cheers to Limb Design for saving some original architecture! I love how quickly random people pop up with knowledge on the internet.
One block north – I noticed that the former gas station (sans taco truck) at the corner of Houston and Crockett is now for sale/lease. About a year ago there was talk of a beer joint for young lawyers opening there. I think I even saw a TABC notice duct taped to the wall a few months back. I guess the for sale sign means the the “bar bar” is a no go.
It is the future home of Limb Design. My company just finished the floors in there. The place is amazing! David Webb did an amazing job taking the owners designs and making them real. They kept a lot of the original parts of the building including the walls of the 1890 super market. If you want to see something special stop by 1702 Houston Ave.

I think this was the building that Historic Houston started out in.
Northwood, I thought the “lawyer hangout” was going to be in the old fire station, across the street? That building has been vacant for years…

Limb, you’re the bomb!
Mel, do you mean the one on Washington? http://www.firestation6.com/
That Chambers Model B stove looks like it was in decent shape. They are great stoves, we have a Model C in our house.
Nice cistern too.If you like wet holes inside your building.
Reminds me of another cool project nearby. Swamplot should cover this one also, more info anyway http://www.firestation6.com/
Limb does lovely work. It will be nice to see them on Houston Avenue.
