  • I lived in this area in the 1980’s to mid 90’s. I loved it, but I wouldn’t live there now for any reason. There is too much crime.

  • Antoine isn’t the problem. What’s on DeSoto is however an issue.

  • What’s on DeSoto? The problematic apartment complexes were torn down 2 years ago. (http://swamplot.com/best-teardown-the-official-2010-ballot/2010-12-13/#more-24026). Now Antoine is the central part of a revitalization project (look up Greater Inwood, Livable Center Project). Am I the only one who has some hope for this area? I hope not, I just moved there.

  • It’s absolutely amazing how much house and land you can get for such little money in some areas.

  • If I know anything from all my years it’s that any postage-stamp-size piece of property will appreciate in value eventually!
    Unless it’s in a flood zone or somebody’s eminent domain…

  • Marie: brave. I remember going out there years ago to see some of the place for sale. I was walking around and some cops came up on my and say “what are you doing here??” I told them I was an investor just looking around. They thought I was crazy and said not even the paramedics will come there unless escorted.

    Yeah. Retavalized or not. I’d pass. That midtown place we bought might have been a pile but at least it’s surrounded by nice stuff. The value of the area is already there.

  • Wow, that is a beautiful home (not so much outside) and cheap! Too bad it is so close to the bayou and outside the loop.
