COMMENT OF THE DAY: HOW YOUR TINY NEIGHBORHOOD CAN CAPTURE A BIG SWAMPLOT AWARD “Attention HOAs: Do not send out your end of the year email until the nominations for best neighborhood are in so you can order your members to stuff the ballot box. It keeps the category interesting each year to learn about some small hamlet of a neighborhood that has managed to keep things together through all of Houston’s booms and busts. Otherwise, it would just be an annual Heights v. Midtown grudge match.” [Old School, commenting on The 2012 Swamplot Awards for Houston Real Estate Begin Now]
A less than 1000 home neighborhood would be nice to see. Maybe all submissions need to come with a walking tour picture gallery.
Also, unique neighborhood histories should be added to submissions.
Considering Montrose won “top 10 neighborhood in the US” I’m not sure why this is even a category that’s contended :)
Cody,
Not to knock montrose, but what magazine was making those rankings???

hilshire. the village few can remember when naming the others. it will get zero interest here, but if it stays a secret so be it.
Cody,
Were you thinking of this? http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2012/09/houstons-lower-westheimer-ranks-among-nations-hippest-neighborhoods/
@Cody: I meant to put down Montrose but typed Midtown by accident. And Montrose is soooo 2009.
