Those dark green awnings and the sign shown below are now the only exterior traces of Barnes & Noble’s multi-decade presence in the east-facing building in the Westheimer Crossing shopping center just west of Voss Rd. It’s the only business ever to inhabit the 38,700-sq.-ft. standalone structure since it went up along with the rest of the retail complex in the mid-90s.
Unlike the rest of the shopping center — now home to Academy Sports + Outdoors, Michaels, REI, Designer Shoe Warehouse, Petco, Thai Spice and a smattering of roadside fast food and retail buildings — the former bookstore is owned separately by National Retail Properties, a real estate investment trust that puts money into shopping centers across the U.S.

Aye man this place going to be bum central. So sad. No idea what they could put in this thang. Maybe another rim story or poo shop. My cousin stays over in briarmeadow.
Stay safe and thanks!
Is this where the aldis is coming in? Also a Barnes and noble as a retail for a high rise sounds nice
B & N has developed aspects of community gathering places, at least in some locations. Sort of like the public library, but with coffee and snacks.
The Aldi’s is going in the Tanglewilde Center 9500 Block of Westheimer
I would welcome a Aldis. they still haven’t found an tenent for the old HEB.
Great place for an Amazon store!
they should build a high rise or two(with a park in the middle of them) in that old heb
Sorry to see this store leave the area. I still miss the 2-story B&N that was in Centre @ Post Oak.
Even though there are over half a million dollar homes around the corner, this area is becoming trashy. Very sad indeed.
Well gosh! It wasn’t the closest to my house, but it was awful convenient to lots of areas that I find myself in!
Well that sucks, now I would have to travel miles across the city to reach the nearest one. Oh well.
