COMMENT OF THE DAY: THE DESIGN SHOPPER “Call me crazy but I believe architectural style and design matters. This is why I’ll be doing my grocery shopping here and not at my boring Garden Oaks or Heights Kroger.” [MericaRulz, commenting on Meanwhile, on the Former Site of the Wilshire Village Apartments]
I agree and often wonder what happened to most of the buildings in the past 20 years that have been constructed in Houston. Almost everything is B-O-R-I-N-G with very few exceptions. Asia House should help end that drought. And kudos to HEB for “thinking” about design even for something as everyday as a grocery store.
The 70s-80s are over.
Then, Houston was a design & architecture hot-spot.
Congratulations, Merica. Thanks for adding to our congested streets and contributing generously to Houston’s polluted air.
Yes, when it comes to grocery stores, architectural style and design does matter. One of my favorite grocery stores with good style and design (including gardens and art sculpture) is the Randalls at Towne & Country Village.
