EXTREMISTS WANT TO COME BACK TO HOUSTON The producers of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition are already looking to return to Houston for another frenetic rebuild — less than a year after volunteers here put up a brand new house (complete with upstairs fashion runway) for the Johnson family in South Union, and showed it off before a national audience. Know a family whose home is “making it difficult, or even impossible, to cope with challenges that face them”? The show’s casting director wants your nominations “for the deserving people and inspiring families that America can really root for.” [abc13; signup; previously on Swamplot] Photos: ABC
I nominate the crackheads that live
at the “Heaven on Earth Inn” and
the lonely building they live in.
Extreme makeover is sorely needed.
They really must redo the smoking
rooms and the bathrooms are mucho yucko. Thanks Extreme Home Makeover.
What about the sweet family living in the storage unit facility? Sounds like they could use a nice, friendly helping hand after everything they’ve been through lately.
Question about these extreme makovers: do they help pay the huge increase in property taxes that a remodel like the one above would lead to? If someone is down on their luck financially and you up their taxes a bunch upon re-appraisal, haven’t you just made them “land rich cash poor” like a person who inherits a farm?
Ryan, kind of like all the HGTV “Dream Home” winners that had to sell their prize to pay the taxes. At least Extreme Makeover is probably less costly since you would be receiving a gift instead of a prize.
Boo-hoo for the dream home winners.
Speaking of which, HGTV is filming locally. To participate there is voting taking place Aug. 13th. It is apparently a home design competition.

i’ve heard extreme makeover does give the recipient $ for taxes for x amt of years (can’t remember how much). however that hasn’t stopped the people from defaulting anyhow and being kicked out. here’s a link regarding the forclosures on the EM properties…http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304871704575160312975375930.html
