  • Anyone know who the interior designer was for the Governor’s Mansion re-do? I am singularly unimpressed by the way the rooms look in the photos. Colors of carpets and upholstery don’t seem to coordinate, too many itty-bitty accessories for those big rooms, lack of imagination for the dining table setting.

  • I don’t know who the interior designer was, but the project manager for the re-build was Dealey Herndon of the State Preservation Board. She had overseen the pre-Molotov coctail restoration of the house as well as the huge Capitol Extension project, which turned out amazingly well. I don’t know her but I think she’s brilliant and gets things done (2 qualities that rarely coincide) and that the interiors look lovely, much as they always did, perfectly in keeping with Empire style. The yellow-and-green combo was, I think, the preference of one of the former first ladies who was a Baylor fan. It does not look like an Ikea catalog, that is true; nor like the private retreat of a toddler, as most homes do.
