Sugarbaby’s Cupcake Breakthrough

Caught on camera: Sighting of actual male customer inside Sugarbaby’s Cupcake Boutique on S. Shepherd, recorded by a blogging customer (and apparent accomplice), who offers this advice on visits in mixed company:

Okay, so the uber-girly decor may nauseate your male companion, but you can get the cupcakes to-go!

Some of that uber-girlishness:

We go there occasionally. My wife loves the place, and the cupcakes are very good. Never really thought about the decor - it looks like a bakery.

I love, love, love Sugarbaby’s! My daughter had her 6 year birthday party there last year in their party room. Everyone had a blast decorating their own cupcake! The staff was fabulous…would definitely do another party there! Last, but not least, the cupcakes are too die for! My favorite is the strawberry on strawberry! Reminds me of Billy’s and Magnolia in NYC.

I’ve been there once - and that was enough. The cupcakes were dry and tasteless and the private room was so loud you couldn’t hear the person across the table. Moeller’s petit fours blows Sugarbaby’s cupcakes away.

I live in the area and walk or drive by Sugarbaby’s several times a week. I just don’t get it. $36 for a dozen cupcakes? Who buys freakin’ cupcakes from a store? And what’s with the elaborate, gaudy decor?

You can get them to go….if you don’t start retching uncontrollably while you pay.

I have only been there once. For me their cupcakes don’t hold a candle to Crave Cupcakes in the Uptown Park shopping center.
