The Two New Reporters Swamplot Is Ready To Hire

Last week we mentioned that Swamplot is ready to do some hiring. We’re pretty excited about this opportunity, and you should be too, even if you’re just a casual reader — because having a larger editorial staff will allow us to expand our coverage. Today we’re announcing 2 new positions. We’ll discuss a third opening tomorrow next week.

Both positions we’re announcing today are for reporter-writers. And really, we think these will turn out to be the best blogging gigs in the city. Interested — or know someone who might be? Here are the details:

***

The first position is for a reporter-writer for Swamplot. We’re looking for someone who can research, report, and write quickly and well; who’s attentive to detail, careful with facts, and has a good sense of humor; who can work independently and communicate well; and who can spit out accurate and entertaining posts faster than our large and highly engaged regional audience can spit back. We want someone who understands this site and how it works, and who will bring ideas and energy to make it better. This is a full-time position.

The second reporter-writer position is similar, but is for an extension of Swamplot, covering a topic related to our regular content. If you’ve got strong people skills, a real appreciation for Houston’s twists and turns, and are excited about the prospect of spending your days exploring this city and reporting on the treasures you find, this is the job for you. This position is also full-time.

To apply for either of these positions, please send us a cover letter describing your interest in and qualifications for the job, a resume, and some writing samples. Please put “reporter-writer position” in the subject line of your email.
