A reader is wondering what mysterious forces have brought to a halt plans for the sushi restaurant at 7801 Westheimer on the corner of Stoneybrook, a block west of Hillcroft — the former site of the ABC Flower & Garden Center. Construction on The Fish and Knife Sushi Bar and Club (at least that’s what the sign calls it) began about 3 months ago, says our reader: “They were blowing and going 7 days a week. Then, about 6 weeks ago, all construction halted.” Nothing’s been going up since, save a healthy serving of weeds.

My neighbor and I were having the exact same conversation too!
Do we really need another sushi resturant in this town?
It’s possible the construction crew got mugged once too often. Westheimer ain’t what it used to be. Wild, Wild Westheimer is more like it at this point.
The giant crane is back!
Any word yet on who the owner is??
I live across the street and would love a “good” sushi bar right there. Has anyone heard anything yet?
Knives are very scary and make me hide in my shoe…. sometimes it smells like FISH
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
There’s a fresh new sign up, and some construction equipment and materials. Hoping they finish it finally!
The owners are from New Orleans. They currently own a celebrity/hot spot in New Orleans called Sake Cafe Uptown. The sushi is very good.
They were working on the spot this morning. More sushi and steak.
I was thinking they were building the Taj Mahal since it was taking so long…but love this area of town and looking forward to it’s eventual opening! The new cyprus trees look great!
It’s now almost March of 2013 and this place still isn’t finished. Contruction has been in dribs and drabs, as if work only proceeds if they have a little extra cash, that month. The exterior is almost complete, but the interior has yet to take shape.
Is there anything happening here?
I am really interested in the date in which it will open, my fingers are crossed for the end of next month, being my birthday and all. It would great to do sushi there.
