Heights Dry Zone Residents: Did Prop. 1 Not Show Up on Your Ballot Today?

HEIGHTS DRY ZONE RESIDENTS: DID PROP. 1 NOT SHOW UP ON YOUR BALLOT TODAY? Voting Signs, HoustonPolls don’t close until 7 PM in Harris County, but a couple of Heights-area readers have already written in today with claims that the local option measure to allow to-go-only beer and wine sales in the Heights  wasn’t on their ballots — even though they live inside the dry zone. Are you one of them? If so, Swamplot would love to hear from you via the tip line email address (and as always, we’ll keep you anonymous by default). Photo: Ed T [license]

  • It was there. It was under a City of Houston ordinance vote and not titled under Heights. The guy next to me started bitching that he didn’t have it on his ballot until the election volunteer pointed it out. The guy said “I guess I did vote on it”. WTF?

  • @J, this is why I am glad that we don’t have mandatory voting as some countries do. People who can’t be bothered to pay attention to what they’re voting on probably shouldn’t be trusted to choose for the rest of us. I won’t even get into the ones who can’t be bothered to do a little research on the candidates and issues, or the ones who can’t figure out where they should show up to vote.
