Isabella Court’s Art Palace Makeover

ISABELLA COURT’S ART PALACE MAKEOVER As of tonight’s grand opening opening, the ground-floor retail space of the Isabella Court Apartments will now be home to four functioning spaces for contemporary art: Inman Gallery, the new Inman Annex space, CTRL Gallery, and the just-moved-here-from-Austin Art Palace, run by the conveniently named Art Palacios. Art Palace has taken over the long-vacant space at 3913 Main St. last occupied by Finesilver Gallery. [Arts in Houston; previously on Swamplot] Photo: Art Palace

  • Jonathan Marshall’s show; Doubled Vision at Art Palace is a must see. This young, talented artist actually sent us a very thoughtful thank you note after purchasing one of his works last year. As a collector, that’s a first. Arturo, along with his artists, will bring positive energy to the Houston art scene.

  • Actually it isn’t in the old Finesilver space- Inman Gallery is using that space to exhibit some of their collection. Art Palace is next door in a space that housed an architect briefly but has been vacant.

  • Inman was using the space Art Palace is in now for their Dario Robleto exhibit. Now Inman’s “extra” space (on the south end of the building) is a lot smaller.

Art Palace had a nice opening (despite the nasty weather)and has a thought-provoking show, and a cool stable of artists, including Houston faves Elaine Bradford and Seth Alverson. The only bad thing is that the gallery is pretty small.
