Neighborhood Guessing Game Over: Where There’s a Willers Way

Thanks to y’all of you for sending the Neighborhood Guessing Game out in style! Bolstered by all of your encouragement, NGG will likely spend its retirement tanning by the pool . . . and plotting a comeback. In the meantime, if you have any grand ideas for making an eventual NGG 2.0 better, stronger, and more fun-filled, please send them this way!

Nobody nailed the neighborhood in this final round, but the single-word entry from Susan was judged close enough for the win. Her prize: a one-year individual membership in the Rice Design Alliance. Congratulations!

Our runners-up this week are flake and wilf. And where is this place?

Location: 5302 Willers Way, Del Monte
Details: 6-7 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths; 7,757 sq. ft. on an 18,470-sq.-ft. lot
Price: $1,399,000
The Scoop: Rambling “New Orleans inspired” 1993 3-story brick home on large lot south of Tanglewood, “expanded and updated” by current owners. One block east of the Marathon Oil building and the Saint James Condo tower; backs up to Grady Middle School soccer field. Flagstone courtyard sits in center of “b”-shaped plan. Two-story library with reading or hiding loft; pergola faces pool with wall and spritzing fountains. On the market for 6 months; price cut $100K in January.

  • All that money and you’re still right on top of your neighbors.

  • Oh, forgot to add, I’m thrilled you’re going to bring back the NGG. It’s really fun!

  • “Hiding loft”?? Is that for the poor kid terrorized by the giraffe looming over the bed?

  • Wow – I was close. I’m surprised the lot is as big as it is.

More fun-filled” for NGG2.0? What could be more fun than going through this house & giving the tasseled things a good swift yank? They probably keep the baby locked upstairs, cause that DR table runner is just too tempting.
