A Swamplot reader sends photos of a few trees recently marked for chopping on the Richmond Ave esplanade across from 11 and 9 Greenway Plaza, between Timmons Ln. and Edloe St. Pictured at top are the western 2 of the 3 trees total that now stand with white death warrants tacked to their trunks.
The third — shown below — sits closer to Edloe:

Some of those look like Chinese elms that are not meant for this climate and soil. They have a tendency to blow over.
Why is this being done?!
Is there a reason why they are cutting those trees down? A redo of the landscaping maybe?
They must have some development plans for the esplanade…another strip center coming? :)

Brookfield just planted about 50 Chinese Elms in Allen Center downtown so they must not know that those trees aren’t good for this climate.
They are redoing the esplanade landscaping There are probably 20 mature trees like these. Oaks and elms, I think. All of them to be removed. Really sad.
