ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE SAYS IT’LL OPEN 4 MORE HOUSTON SPOTS NOW THAT VINTAGE PARK IS OFF ITS HANDS 
Alamo Drafthouse followed up this week’s confirmation that its Vintage Park theater is becoming a Star Cinema Grill by announcing that it plans to open 4 more Houston area locations. Details on where and when are still murky (other than a reiteration that plans for the Imperial Market spot in Sugar Land are still on), but a rep told Kyle Hagerty earlier this week that the company has already signed 3 leases. That may or may not include the 10-year lease signed back in 2013 for a spot in the long-stalled Regent Square development — which did get some permits this fall, as somebody at Morris Architects previously claimed would happen. [Previously on Swamplot] Rendering of proposed Alamo Drafthouse in Sugar Land: Imperial Market

I sure hope one of them is in the Meyerland area. Fifteen years ago we had about 16 screens over there. I promise if they build in Meyerland or Westbury at least 1 ticket and 3 pints sold every week.
The NW Harris County (Spring, Klein, Tomball) area felt like we were given the shaft. We saw job postings at Star Cinema Grill (and a lack of posted show times for Drafthouse) a week before we heard anything from them.
Alamo Drafthouse knows they have a very loyal fan base that appreciate the constant communication of what’s going on (special screenings, movie parties, giveaways, discounts, etc) that keep their fans coming back.
This left a bad taste in the mouths of the fans that they didn’t say anything for an entire week, but putting a theater nearby would help, though the market is a little saturated with a Silverado, two Movie Tavern locations, two AMC locations, and a Cinemark, all within about 5 miles of their former location.
I know of a few spots where they’d do really well, but I’m sure they’ve already decided where locations 3, 4, and 5 in Houston are going to be.
