East Coast Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon is planning a new location at 24437 Katy Fwy., between the Grand Parkway and Katy Mills Mall in the strip-center storefront previously occupied by Johnny’s Pizza House, which closed last year. The chain’s previous Dallas location, its first foray into Texas, opened to so much enthusiasm for its double-fried chicken that the location had to shut down for a week to regroup shortly after its December 2013 opening; half a year later, the location closed permanently. Bonchon’s second Texas trial will open next to Fix My Phone and Katy Peridontology and Oral Surgery.

So Korean Fried Chicken is just regular ole Fried Chicken……Prepared by a Korean?
Well, it is supposed to be double fried and sauced, which is not what is shown in the video on their FB page. What is up with that Dallas location? Overwhelmed then closed 6 months later? What’s that about?
BTW, I had a most amazing double fried Korean chicken for lunch at State of Grace recently. Stuff of cravings.
Interesting — this will be the second Korean fried chicken place to open in Katy. One just opened last month.
Yep, Hoodadak opened in South Katy last month, and it’s actually pretty good. But this place is a chain. Hopefully both stick around; K(orean)FC deserves some more recognition!
@Texmex – Dak and Bop has been hopping in the Museum District for a while now…I was cautious at first. Now I am addicted. Think normal hot wings – but extra crunchy and with a hot, sweet and sticky sauce.
Actually, the oldest KoFC place I know of in Houston is Toreore inside HMart on Blalock. Just hit it a few weeks ago, so yummy…
