Views of America from Behind a Shadyside Wall, Yours for $18 Million

2 Longfellow Ln, Houston, 77005

A piece of Americana comes standard with this 1921 collaboration between architects Harrie T. Lindeberg and John F. Staub, who would later go on to design Bayou Bend. This Georgian-style home north of Rice University contains a copy of the wallpaper mural Views of North America by Jean Zuber (which can also be found in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House).  The $18-million pricetag nets you 5 bedrooms, 5 full baths, and 3 half baths.  The 12,808 sq. ft. home is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and comes surrounded by a pool, a carriage house with an additional apartment, and plenty of leafy greens to cover the view from across-the-street Hermann Park.

  • A truly historic and finely updated/remodeled..But true to the authentic period the home was designed and built.. Of course, you’re right off Main Street,VERY close to the Medical Center.. And across the street from all of those brainiac Rice U students and the Rice U jogging trail-which is very enjoyable… Shadyside is a truly awesome addition… Yet secluded and in it’s own world..

  • This place is spectacularly gorgeous. Finely appointed, not too gaudy, perfectly maintained…and designed to be welcoming and comfortable, yet formal. If you are in this price point, why would you do a Tuscan monstrosity in the Woodlands when you could have this in the heart of the city?

  • This is my lovely listing. It is truly a remarkable home and I am honored to be offering it for sale for my clients.

  • $18 million American dollars? $8 million is more realistic given comps and destroyed market values in the uber high end today.
