Another Pedigreed Condo in The Huntingdon Readies for Sale

That condo in The Huntingdon belonging to Ken and Linda Lay may soon have company on the market. Randi Stanford, daughter of alleged swindler Robert Allen Stanford — who’s lived in a 2,803-sq.-ft. condo in the same highrise at 2121 Kirby for the last 3 years — has agreed to vacate her unit by the end of March.

The agreement ends a longstanding dispute. The court-appointed receiver for the assets of the Stanford Financial Group will put the unit up for sale.

According to HCAD records, Unit 16NE is owned by an LLC whose address is listed as 5050 Westheimer Rd. — the former headquarters of Stanford Financial Group. Writes the Chronicle‘s Mary Flood:

A report by an accountant working for the receiver showed that Allen Stanford paid for the condo with
$1.3 million in early 2006. It shows that at least $44,000 paid for condo maintenance came directly from company funds, and that $34,000 of that came from the certificates of deposits issued by Stanford’s bank in Antigua that are at the heart of the alleged fraud.

  • The Chronicle left out the “…at The Hungtingdon” from its story yesterday.

Popular building for the pillars of the community. Whose bases are of late a little shaky.

I believe Lou Pai’s ex still has her “pied-a-terre” at The Huntingdon. Part of her very large settlement paid for by Enron investors when her husband started selling all his stock. No criminal activity they said. Just a man getting clipped by his wife in the divorce. Everyone had an excuse. Which no doubt explains why there were so many “unindicted co-conspirators.”
I guess you were either an innocent spouse or an idiot who really believed in leprechauns and pots of gold at the end of rainbows.

You do wonder what else lurks at The Huntingdon.

  • All that money that could have done good did so much bad. Why don’t these people have any ethics?

  • The Houston press also fails to note that she is 27 years old and that she lists herself as a “Pet Care Provider” on LinkedIn.

  • Matt Mystery says that ethics is no longer in the vocabulary.

I beg to differ in that many of us behave ethically. Its just that we seem to have lost the desire to have journalists or elected officials who feel the same.

Sadly, we get what we deserve. Nothing will change until we stop putting up with it.

None of the unethical people mentioned in this post were journalists or politicians. (Unless you know something about Mary Flood that I don’t.)

  • Ethics is not a word many associate with the Chronicle anymore. The antics, and attitude, with regard to Annise Parker was one thing. Iteming Lea Fastow as Lea Weingarten in the society column was another. And was truly enough. Next the social scribes will try to pass Linda Lay off as Linda Phillips. Or Linda Herrold.

    Truly enough. And truly atrocious.
