Behind a Tree in Camp Logan, 3 Stories That Get Taller as They Rise

The front yard of a property in Camp Logan’s Minola section is nice and shady. So’s the driveway that takes up most of it, though it shares critical space with a well-established tree. Both are located across from Camp Logan Park, or whatever folks call the grasslands formed by a triangle of streets at Wanita Pl. and Taggart St. The 1940 home (the listing calls it 1980) re-renovated its 1995 renovations earlier this year. After 2 weeks on the market at $1.2 million, the 2-toned home took a brief breather on Friday before re-listing. The property’s price tag took a trim and is now asking $1.1 million.

The multi-peaked home rises 3 stories and is either 2,893 sq. ft. (says HCAD) or 3,180 sq. ft. (says the listing). It last sold in 2010, for $525K. At ground level, the ceilings appear to be flatter and lower than the ones upstairs. Here’s the view in from the foyer:

There’s a hint of staircase in the extreme foreground of this listing photo of the living area downstairs:

The loftier rooms are on the second level, where another staircase grandly heads on up another flight:

The living spaces on this mod level include a media room:

Back on level 2, there’s a porch . . .

perched over the poolscape:

The pool sits close to the street; the home’s courtyard entry passes right by it:

Curbside, it’s a jungle out there:

The pocket park’s gazebo is right across the street. Memorial Park, meanwhile, is a few blocks west.

  • I remember this house was on the market in 2008 or so and was not remodeled. We drove by it and wondered how you get into the garage. I think the tree blocks entry into it from both sides.

  • I want a Flip command on this house to see if that garage could be useable for a car.
    Love the tree though!

  • Back in ’09 my at-the-time girlfriend put in a mid $400s offer on this place. That was well below the ask, but we thought it was fair considering it needed not only updating, but still had unrepaired damage from Ike! The offer was rejected, and she decided not to re-bid on it. It sat for another year exposed and unmaintained before the current owner bought and cleaned up. The interior pictures make it look nice, but $1.1m is still going to be quite a stretch for Camp Logan.
