A Garage-Free Garden and Gallery Complex Near the Astrodome

Traipse through an arbor gate and garden to enter this Westridge home. It’s more of a complex, actually, as there are 3 linked structures, one of which is listed as 1 1/2 stories. They open onto a central courtyard. As updated, altered, and currently used, the floor plan offers an artsy alternative to the neighborhood’s typical fifties ranch-style homes.

The property has no garage, but it does have an art studio and “flex space” linking it to the study. Elsewhere on the first floor, the living and dining rooms open to each other and have views of the patio. Two of the 3 bedrooms are downstairs, including the master bedroom. Its bathroom has a pedestal sink and tub shower. In the kitchen, the counters are a patchwork of tile.

Listed in March at $519,000, the 3,669-sq.-ft. home rambles over a 7,600-sq.-ft. lot  just off Buffalo Speedway near Main St. and the South Loop, a mile and a half west of Reliant Park.

  • Nice. I wonder who the artist is who lives (lived?) there.

  • If only I had won that last Mega Lotto pot! I love this place, and with a budding artist daughter, this house would be perfect for her. I usually hate the color green, but in this case I think it blends in well with the decor.

  • That neighborhood is fairly walkable, though the destinations (Kroger, Target, two Walgreen’s, a CVS, Fiesta, Starbuck’s, Chase bank, Fedex, every fast food you can think of) are not necessarily the trendiest. You can even walk to Reliant Stadium.

  • Wow! I really like this place.

I’m impressed with the drawers in the kitchen. Hate standing on my head to dig out the crock pot from under the cabinet.

  • My garage is my art studio.

    No bid.

  • Neat house but HCAD has it appraised at $271K…

  • It’s zoned to an elementary school which gets 3/10 on greatschools.net, and was rated “Academically Acceptable” last year. Seems like a lot of money.

Weird little neighborhood. Lived not too far away for several years.
