All Tables Have Been Set Inside Southern Goods’ Abandoned Dining Room, Where There’s Still Nothing To Eat

No one’s dined at Southern Goods since it caught on fire 10 months ago, but they could now if only they managed to get inside. A look through its storefront window on W. 19th St. reveals the entire dining room has been set for service, right down to the folded napkins.

Bar seating appears done up as well, with a row of wine glasses running across the countertop at the far end of the space:

Around the corner, a lockout notice from 2 weeks ago remains stuck to the restaurant’s front door:

Its chef and owner announced last month that he’d surrendered his lease after struggling to reopen the business for the better part of 2018.

  • Our household is saddened by this misadventure.

Southern Goods offered a great menu of petite and more full options. They had great cocktails. The folk who worked there were friendly, accommodating, and on-spot, all in a low-key way

We are sorry for the divorce of the original partners. We are sorry that insurance was not engaged.

  • you call that a restaurant!
