The 24.5-acre plot along the W. Sam Houston Pwky. formerly snagged by Schlumberger’s Cameron International looks to be back on the market, a reader notes. Dow Chemical’s quadruple-decade-plus facility got cleared off the land at the end of 2009 following the purchase of the property by an entity connected to Apache Corporation; the spot was sold to Cameron in 2013, when rumor had it that the company would build a skyscraper’s worth of office space on the site. The property was listed afresh by Newmark Grubb Knight Frank around the end of April.

Cameron currently lists at least 4 other locations scattered along the W. Beltway (out of some 18 total in the Houston area). A consolidated campus would have pulled many of the company’s operations less than a mile north of the about-to-open Phillips 66 campus, across Briar Forest Dr. from Revere Middle School.

Minor correction: the new Phillips building is nowhere near Memorial; it’s on the west side of the Beltway between Westheimer and Briar Forest. The soon to be ex-Cameron site isn’t on Memorial either, and it’s on the same side of Memorial as both Revere and Phillips (not across Memorial from either of them, in other words). Revere is on Briar Forest; there are a number of office buildings between it and the new Phillips building – I work in one of them.
Thanks, Vonnegan — we definitely meant Briar Forest Dr.! The article’s been fixed.
