  • sad… but i can’t say i was keeping them in business. It’s probably been 10+ years since I’ve been.

  • their facebook page shows some internal strife over the last few months:

  • LOOK, I JUST NEED THE MUSTARD SAUCE RECIPE AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. WHO’S GOT THE JUICE?

  • Ah memories of The Drag @UT. I loved Texadelphia when I was at UT, but never even thought about the one here. It just seemed an Austin thing. Like why would I want to go to a Schlitterbaan that isn’t in the Hill Country? Schlitterbaan IS the Hill Country.

  • @Northsidegirl, get out of my head, this is exactly what I was going to say.

  • I haven’t been there in a couple of years, but that’s disappointing.

  • The mustard sauce recipe is 60% Gulden’s spicy brown mustard, 30% mayo and 10% teriyaki sauce. Handy home measurements for a small batch are 2 Tbsp, 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp, respectively.

  • Actually, I haven’t made the mustard blend in a while….I may have the mayo and mustard proportions reversed. It may be 60% mayo and 30% mustard…I can’t remember….try it out. You’ll know which is right.

  • The one in the Village was life-sustaining in college. I assume it’s gone now too.

  • The Village location has been gone for a decade or more, I think.
    .
I enjoyed the one on the drag in Austin. I visited a few of them in Houston. It was never anything special enough to become a regular destination. If you want a really good cheesesteak, try Tornado Burger down in Stafford. I think I’ll go there for lunch.

  • The owner didn’t know how to run the business. He closed owing a lot of people money!

  • @BCA: I can remember overhearing an employee at the original Drag location say that the secret about the mustard blend is that it’s mostly mayo. Your second post is probably correct.

  • QUESO! QUESO! QUESO! Anyone have the recipe for the queso? I loved that stuff and haven’t had it in a long time.

  • Fond memories at this place. Too bad.

  • I liked this joint.
