TIMBERGROVE H-E-B TO CLOSE JUST AHEAD OF SHEPHERD H-E-B’S END-OF-MONTH OPENING January 29 will be the last day of service at the 1511 W. 18th St. H-E-B, reports The Leader’s Landan Kuhlman. And the next day, he writes, H-E-B’s new double-decker location at 2300 N. Shepherd Dr. will open just under a mile away (with legally-offered beer and wine on the shelves). It’s the second 2-story store the grocer has opened in Houston — the first was in Bellaire — and has been in the making between 23rd and 24th streets since late 2017, by which time the block had been devoid of its former Fiesta tenant for over a year. A third H-E-B of the same breed is currently on the rise in Meyerland Plaza. [The Leader; previously on Swamplot] Photo of new H-E-B at 2300 N. Shepherd Dr.: Brandon DuBois
any news on what’s going to take HEB’s place on 18th street?
I am moving to that area of Timbergrove in April. I would love if that shopping centre received some major refresh or redevelopment post HEB closure…
Not surprising. Would be a good place for a second inner-loop Trader Joe’s. The lines literally wrap all the way around the entire building in the Upper Kirby location. Also, on the subject of that Joe’s, it would be great if they’d move into the space recently vacated by Randall’s in the Shepherd Square center, and give up their current space to, oh, say… Alamo Drafthouse? How awesome would that be?
They need to upgrade the HEB in Gulf Freeway by Woodridge!! is old and the bathrooms need a big update! is only 3 bathrooms and the doors don’t work always out of oder!! I been to other HEBs like the one in Freemount nothing compared!!
I thought I read somewhere (Nextdoor I believe) that that a 24Hour Fitness.
@sh8y is correct. 24 Hour Fitness signed a 15 year lease back in June. A Memorandum of Lease was recorded at the Harris County Clerk’s Office, which you can pull up from her web site. The document number is RP-2018-259597
The Foodarama – in the western wedge between 18th and West TC Jester is about to have a boomlet.
Maybe the HEB will lighten the nightmare of the 11th St. Kroger parking lot – then again – maybe not…
