- Location TBD: A reader who’s seen it used as a backdrop for engagement photos wants to know the location of this wall painted with the Texas flag. The pic above was snapped more than 2 1/2 years ago — does the Lone Star-splatted wall yet wave?
- Cottage Grove: Reader Eric Nordstrom wants to know what that new construction going up on Shepherd across from the shuttered Shuck Daddy’s is gonna be when it grows up. That’d be on the corner of Maxie St., for all you online map Googlers.
- First Ward: Yet another reader sends in these notable surveillance photos (below) from the scene of the old Harris Moving and Storage warehouse at 1824 Spring St. What’s going on there? “They dug up the fuel tank a few months ago, and lately there are fleets of HVAC and plumbing trucks in front every day. They’ve amassed a number of curb mosaics and appear to be laying them out for parking spaces. The most recent thing I observed was framing out of some of the windows — for AC units maybe? The other morning I also saw a truckload of what appeared to be room dividers being delivered. There is a rumor in the neighborhood that the warehouse will be turned into artist space, but I have no idea how credible that is.” Swamplot readers: What credible rumors about this building do you have to contribute?

has anyone asked what is being built along Waugh Dr. between W. Dallas & W. Gray (in front of the mid rise condos, on the west side of the street)? Sorry don’t know the exact address.
The space on Waugh is going to be Tony Mandola’s new seafood kitchen. He is moving from the old space on W. Gray.
1824 Spring is a conversion of warehouse to artist workspace for Spring Street Studios. $900,000 in improvements are planned.
I believe the Texas wall is in Austin..
Given the for rent sign on the wall is 713, I doubt its in Austin…
I sure hope the street address tiles are not being used for tire stops. That would be sad. With just a little time and effort, those can be saw-cut and replaced with the new curbs, but most of the time everyone is too lazy to apply that litte bit if effort toward neighborhood pride in character.
The Texas Flag wall is/was on Rusk, between La Branch and Crawford. Haven’t been by there recently to see if it still waves.
Looking out the window… Yep, flag’s still there.
There used to be a Texas wall like that in downtown over near the Entergy substation.
713-642-3111 according to the sign on the wall of the texas flag.
The street address tiles on Studewood were sacrificed along with a great many other things all facilitate idiots doing 50mph in a residential neighborhood. God forbid anyone should have to leave thir house 5 minutes earlier to get to work on time.
I can’t believe that nobody on here has mentioned the fact that Christians Tailgate will open in the heights on White Oak and has already applied for their alcohol license. The Hieghts Life Blog broke the story.

Can’t wait for their tasty burgers. I wonder how Onion Creek feels about this?
I thought that whole strip center was supposed to be being refurbed. Is this project now dead?
Omigod, those are the curb addresses the city and construction firm were supposed to REPOSITION on Studewood after the rebuilding of the street! They said they couldn’t FIND them. They belong to the taxpayers!!!!!!
Yep, Texas wall is here…

Theresa- There is an example of replacing the street address tiles…look at the southeast corner of Michigan and Commonwealth. New curb (about 5 years ago) but tiles replaced. Worked out just fine. Just took me bugging the contractor and city every other day….
There’s got to be a back story to those street curb markers. Did the city sell them to some artist group? Or did they disappear in the night?
Might need to call Wayne! Or Amy. Or -insert TV investigative reporter here—
