The prize for this week’s Neighborhood Guessing Game is being sponsored by Houston. It’s Worth It. The winner of the current round will receive a gift box containing $100 worth of merchandise from the HIWI store, including a copy of the classic Houston. It’s Worth It. book, a HIWI T-shirt, a HIWI mug, a baseball cap, and private-label bug repellent. If you’d like to win the prize, there’s still time to submit your entry!

The Rice Design Alliance will continue to sponsor Neighborhood Guessing Game prizes for a couple of weeks each month. And a number of other sponsors have stepped up to the plate as well.

But if you’ve got a product or business you’d like Swamplot readers to pay some attention to, sponsorship slots are still available! Let us know if you’re interested.

As many readers — and at least one would-be spammer — have already noticed, Swamplot now has a job board.

Why? Well, as we mentioned yesterday, Swamplot is now looking for an advertising sales rep to sell some online real estate — on this site. And it turns out Boxer Property Management is looking for a leasing agent. Hey, that’s 2 listings already! So why not open it up? Houston real-estate and design fans swarm Swamplot every day, and this site’s readership continues to grow. Maybe other Swamplot readers have positions open they’d like to advertise?

For now, you can post a job ad on the Swamplot Job Board for free. It’s quite easy, really — and it’s even cheaper than Craigslist. What kinds of jobs belong here? Hey, try us. Even contract work for small projects is okay — just mark those listings as “Freelance” work. As new listings arrive, we’ll add new categories to match.

The latest Swamplot Job Board postings will show up on the home page, in the far-right column. We hope you’ll check them out, and help make the board more useful by spreading the word about it to friends and colleagues.

You still have a chance to win that $100 gift certificate to Robert Gadsby’s new Bedford Restaurant that Swamplot is giving away this week. All you need to do is win the latest Neighborhood Guessing Game.

But if you want to get your guess in, you’d better hurry! The contest ends tomorrow . . . sometime!

We want to thank Bedford — and the Rice Design Alliance, which will continue to sponsor other rounds of the game — for their prize donations. Prizes have helped attract new players to the game and to this site, and brought a good number of you lurkers out of the woodwork. The prizes turn out to be a good deal for our sponsors, too, because sponsoring earns them a lot of attention from Swamplot readers.

If you or your firm would like to sponsor a round or two of the Neighborhood Guessing Game, just contact Swamplot using the address on our advertising page.

A big thank you to these direct advertisers, who are doing us all a service by occupying some important real estate on the pages of Swamplot:

And a warm welcome to Swamplot’s newest advertiser:

This year’s RDA tour, on March 28th and 29th, will feature small houses.

If you’d like to join this select group and get your message out to Swamplot’s large, loyal and unique audience of smart, rabid Houston real-estate fans, get in touch with us. You’ll find a rate sheet and contact info on our advertising page.

Also, Swamplot is pleased to announce that the RDA has also agreed to sponsor 2 prizes each month for the Neighborhood Guessing Game. Winners of RDA-sponsored rounds will receive a one-year individual membership in the Rice Design Alliance, which you’ll be able to give to a friend if you’re already a member. Individual RDA memberships are ordinarily $45 a year.

If you’d like to promote your business by sponsoring a prize, slots are still available! Next week we’ll be giving away a prize for the NGG that’s being donated by a brand new sponsor — and we’re betting it’ll be highly sought after. Stay tuned!

As many of you know, the winner of Swamplot’s weekly Neighborhood Guessing Game now wins . . . an actual prize. By special arrangement with the Rice Design Alliance, a couple of one-year individual RDA memberships have already been awarded to game winners. After this week, there’ll be 2 more memberships to give away.

Which leaves a fantastic opportunity for certain local enterprises. If you run a small business that would appreciate attention from Swamplot’s audience, why not sponsor an award? It could be a great way to get the name of your establishment in front of the crowds of Houston real estate obsessives who carefully analyze all those Swamplot pixels each week. If you run a local organization, why not publicize it here by offering a membership? And if you’re just a self-promoter without an obvious bauble to dispense, drop us a line — we’ve got lots of . . . uh, prize-winning ideas.

If you know of any companies or organizations that might be interested in sponsoring any of our Neighborhood Guessing Games, have them contact Swamplot at the address shown on this page — which also conveniently points to detailed information about advertising on this site.

Yesterday we announced Swamplot would be holding this week’s Neighborhood Guessing Game open an extra day — to encourage more of you to participate. And many new players have jumped in with smart guesses.

That’s great! But we still don’t have a winner.

So we’re holding it open again, over the weekend. If you’ve already guessed once . . . or twice . . . have another shot at it! And if you’re one of the many Neighborhood Guessing Game fans who’s never actually submitted a guess before: here’s your chance! It’s easy to make a guess. If you win, you’ll be awarded an individual membership in the Rice Design Alliance.

But hurry! Winner or no, this round shuts down on Monday.

After a strong day yesterday, the number of entries in this week’s Neighborhood Guessing Game trailed off a bit today. Which is too bad, because — for the first time ever — there’s a great prize waiting for the winner. And . . . because no one has guessed the actual neighborhood yet.

What’s the big idea behind offering a prize? To encourage more of our readers to participate. We know a great number of you look at the game each week but for one reason or another decide not to enter a guess. Maybe it’s because you think the other players are better at it than you are? Or maybe adding your guess just doesn’t seem worth the effort?

Well . . . how about now? The field’s still wide open. And in return for just a little speculating and finger waggling, you could walk away with a shiny new individual membership in the Rice Design Alliancenormally available for $45 a year.

So . . . we’ll be extending this week’s competition for one more day. If you’ve already made a guess, feel free to make another. But if you’ve been holding out on us for some reason, now’s a great opportunity to go ahead and take a stab at it, simply by adding your comment.

It won’t hurt! We’re holding the contest open . . . just for you.
