The Brand-New Mid-Century Mod-ifications Wrapped Around This 1970s Grogan’s Mill Ranch

3303 Shadowncrest Ln., Spring, TX 77380

3303 Shadowncrest Ln., Spring, TX 77380 Now for sale just across the Spring-Creek-hugging southern edge of Harris County: this 1970s ranch, carefully dressed by the seller in slate panels. The 3-bedroom 2-bathroom property was given a new outer skin (as seen in the top photo) to tie into features of the extensive interior redo, carried out by the seller’s own stone-and-tile-centric remodeling business. New features in the home include stone paneling, a few reshaped windows, and some throwback color schemes (including a black-and-white checkered garage floor), as well as a new pump system for the drought-tolerant backyard landscape (complete with koi pond.)  Asking price is $400,000 — check out more before-and-after shots below:

  • Unfortunately, this home sits in a two-block-across area that has 100=year flood plains on BOTH the east and west sides. The east flood-plains is 1/2 block from this house. As Houston’s weather grows more and more tempermental and wet, I’d always be worrying about when the house might flood. At least you would have tile and slate floors.

  • People do the darndest things.
    .
The exterior re-clad is an abomination. The mortar joints going straight up the wall. Yikes. Tile, slate, marble overload on the interior.

  • Thanks, Rest — it’s been added!

  • All that gravel under those huge leafy trees? That’s going to be one big mess to keep clean come autumn. No thanks.

  • I’m just a mile or two away from this place. asking price is 3X the market. I guess there’s a sucker born every minute. Can’t see paying 400K for a 1500sf house when you can get 3 times the house in the same area and have it be brand new construction.

  • This is unbelieveable! Covering the brick in slate? And the entire yard in gravel! omg, what a nightmare.

  • Swamplot, I well and truly love your ability to pick the house listings most likely to troll. Brilliant and entertaining.

  • A couple things: This house isn’t in Grogan’s Mill. In fact, it’s not even in The Woodlands. It’s in Timber Lakes/Timber Ridge, an adjacent subdivision. As another poster mentioned, several homes in this area have flooded over the years thanks to Spring Creek. In fact, some were even bought out. I actually like the remodel, but when you look at the dumpy adjacent homes (that are valued around $150,000 for the most part) and consider the possibility of flooding, it was a bad idea to dump that much money into this particular house.
