AND YET ANOTHER BAR IS COMING TO MAIN ST.’S HAPPENING 300 BLOCK The stretch of Main St. downtown between Prairie and Congress that’s been nominated for the Ground-Floor Retail Award in this year’s Swampies will soon have another bar to add to its growing collection. A food-and-mixed-drinks establishment named Bar Materia — at least that’s the proposed name — is planned for the spot shown at left at 312 Main. Last week, the folks behind Anvil, Hay Merchant, and Underbelly announced plans to open The Nightingale Room a couple doors down at 308 Main St., downstairs from Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge. I believe that Nightingale Room is going to be in the space beneath the space *currently* occupied by Bad News Bar.
@adr: You’re right. That’s better news; we’ve fixed it above.
I’m now counting 13 bars on this block. Waiting for a good cafe… (corner of main and congress?)
Didn’t that ugly beige storefront in the pic used to be The Hub? Talk about a renovation that shouldn’t have happened.
Is the Market Square Drinking & Dining Establishment Bubble upon us?
These guys need to run the bars in Midtown and Upper Kirby and wash Ave….these dudes dont seem to be racist like a lot of the bars in Midtown and Upper Kirby and wash Ave…..good for them…it sucks that Houston is still so racist..
