Helping CEOs with That Vision Thing

HELPING CEOS WITH THAT VISION THING The head of the giant monkey wrench is still under construction Downtown, but already Hines has lowered rents and begun looking for smaller-scale tenants at MainPlace, Nancy Sarnoff reports. And now . . . they’re staging it! “Hines has built out mock offices on three floors so prospective tenants can get a better idea of what their offices may look like. Depending on the audience, the models can make an impression. ‘If you bring over a CEO, it registers with them a little more,’ said Chrissy Wilson, vice president of leasing for Hines.” [Houston Chronicle; previously on Swamplot] Photo: Skyscraper Page user Johnme

I thought CEOs were making the big bucks because they were such visionaries.

  • I think the building looks like a giant PEZ dispenser.

  • this makes me think, has anyone started looking at what impact this drilling moratorium may have on Houston? i’ve even heard rumors about the gov’t trying to insert safety regulations that will basically bar BP from working in the gulf for years now and changes like that would be huge.

if the oil business in the gulf is currently set to fall by 20% in 2014, what will the drop in business look like by the time this moratorium is over? a lot of jobs will be heading to south america in the short term and they may not ever come back.

may be best to wait to buy that townhome in the heights in 2014 rather than now.

Being a visionary for your business doesn’t mean you’re a visionary for interior design.

  • What ever happened to Devon Energy? There were many rumors they were looking for larger amounts of space and possibly for a lease in a new bldg in Allen Center (one that wasn’t built). They are building a giant HDQTs in OKC at the moment. I assumed that maybe they’d jump over to Main Place…

  • Devon has downsized the majority of their space and has laid off a lot of their Houston staff. They are moving alot of storage to their Oklahoma office and decreasing lease space here in Houston. They are no where near the candidate for Hines’ building.
