Inside the Masonic Lodge Now Selling Out in the Woodland Heights

114 Byrne St., Woodland Heights, Houston, 77009
A veil of mystery and enigma comes free with your purchase of this 1920s building on Byrne St., which hit the market last week. Woodlands Lodge 1157 moved out of the building in the early 1980s citing neighborhood decline, and headed north to its current locale near the I-45 split from Veterans Memorial Dr. The Byrne building is listed by Camelot Realty as having 5 bedrooms, including the 50-by-50-sq.-ft. space upstairs; asking price is $1.5 million. Step into the waiting room and look around:

  • Oooh I always wanted to know what went on in a Masonic Lodge! Too bad the place is empty

  • J***, oh my gosh! The pillars are missing.

  • I can just imagine the freemasons old boys club of Houston in 1920s discussing how to get rid of that darn trolley system out of an oil town.

  • With that long canopy out front, it looks like a funeral home.

  • Beautiful! It would make a lovely home.

  • looking at where they were, and where they are now, I think they chose poorly

  • Anyone know what it’s been doing the last 30 years?

  • Wonder what’s under the dropped ceilings?

  • Commas, they are useful.

  • I hope whoever buys this leaves the Masonic symbol on the front facade. Wonder how much more money it will take to convert it to a home with updated kitchen and full bathrooms? Love all the bookshelf built ins and wood paneling in the stairwell. If I had that kind of money, I would buy it just because of its unique history.

  • Would be nice to put a 350 to 500 sqft model train layout in the big open room and in the big room with the built in bookcase run a part15 am pirate radio or internet radio station. 1.5mill is a little over priced in my IMHO about $300k to $500k over priced
