The air-conditioned 2-story playhouse at 36 Tiel Way is on the market as of last Friday, along with its 5-bedroom mansion mate. The playhouse, featured as yesterday’s Home Listing Photo of the Day, was built back in 2011 by Kristi Schiller (the radio personality turned police-dog philanthropist formerly known as Lucy Lipps) and her husband. The playhouse includes running water, window planters, and a minifridge; the just-under-1-acre property backs up to Buffalo Bayou and also plays host to an outdoor kitchen and a saltwater pool.
Here’s the playhouse’s living room and upstairs, followed by a tour of the rest of the digs:

Some of the playhouse’s wildlife decor is currently carried through to the front entrance of the main house:
The formal living room includes a fireplace, while the den includes a wet bar:
The first-floor library overlooks the backyard as well:
There’s another sitting room upstairs:
More seating space is available in the walk-in shower in the master bathroom:
A covered patio terrace overlooks the pool and back yard:
More wildlife themes can be spotted among the landscaping:
The outdoor kitchen and bar area are tucked away behind the pool:

Tiel Way and Troon (across Kirby) have got to be my favorite streets in Houston. There may still be some mid-century homes on Tiel Way, although I haven’t been down there in awhile.
@ Roadchick: Although Tiel Way and Troon Rd. are two of the more quaint Houston streets, the flooding issue ,especially on Tiel Way is insane. I talked with one property owner on the east side of Tiel Way -just North of Kirby and he’s been there for decades and finally had enough floods- he sold his home. The few remaining Karl Kamrath designed (inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright) homes are rare gems. But bringing anyone one of those Mid Century icons up to date is a time and money consuming task. But no matter how grand any redo is, these homes are in or adjacent to flood prone Buffalo Bayou. BTW, I’d NEVER have anything to do with any project done by Randy Powers- one of the most over -rated “designers” in Houston. He’s an egotistical BORE And an an ass ..
