Royce Builders has finally shut down. The company slipped out somewhere between gusts of Hurricane Ike, leaving only a note on its website.
Looking for an earnest money refund? Try Royce’s handy new sounds-like-spam Gmail address! But do it before October 1, because . . . well, just because.
Got a home warranty issue? Well then, just . . . read the warranty!
A reader comments:
My concern is for the people who closed on one of their poorly built homes in the last 365 days. Royce was the backer of the new home warranty for the first year of ownership and now they are gone. My friends who used to work for them tell me there are thousands of unfinished warranty requests that were never completed or even addressed. I wish all the home owners good luck on getting things fixed. At least they will have the Two to Ten Waranty beginning in the second year (if Royce paid the premium).
Royce’s happy farewell message is after the jump!

My wife and I just moved to Texas and purchased a Royce home on the recomendation of our Realtor. We moved in mid July, few of the original walk through items had been repaired, we now have a wall that is bowed outward in the master bath with nobody to repair it and to put the icing on the cake we have received letters from vendors that Royce ordered materials from and never paid saying they are going to place a lien on our house. Thank you Royce Builders.
I just started the legal proceedings. I don’t know whether it will work or not.
I closed on a royce builders new home and getting lien notices from attorney and companies whom Royce didnt pay for the material and labor. I have problems with my door, lavatory tiles and did put a request with homestar but now I cant contact them. I sent a certified mail and it came back. And now I read they are starting another company with another name.
What kind of legal proceedings you are starting “waitingrefund”
Small Claim in JP court. Where did you read that they are starting another company with another name?

I asked for many times, it took me for more than three months.
how does one even begin to request a refund of the earnest money deposit?
I got my earnest money check but they still haven’t sent me my upgrades check. Does anyone know any other contact than earnestmoneyrefund@gmail.com?
Hi All,
I am looking at this bank-owned foreclosure (yr 2006, 2515sqft, $175k, 99/westpark) from Royce. Never lived in, looks nice, backyard lake, etc but no warranties. I understand that the builder went bankrupt for a variety of reasons but do you suggest taking the risk without the warranty? Will greatly appreciate advice.
