The former North Shepherd Dr. garage of Southern Truck Pros, an auto shop that specializes in diesel trucks, appears to be headed for a second career — as a brewery. The Facebook page for a new company called Astral Brewing, showing off the kick-the-can logo portrayed here, lists 4818 N. Shepherd Dr. as its address — with a projected landing in 2018.
Until this past February, that address served as the Southern Truck Pros HQ. The metal warehouse building sits across the street from pickled pork rib tip hotspot B&W Meat Co., on the eastern edge of Shepherd Park Plaza.
Southern Truck Pros’ new location is further north, at 11549 Brooklyn St., east of the Hardy Toll Rd.
One of the most recently built homes in Shepherd Park Plaza appears to have a thing for blonde highlights. The garage door’s panels set the golden tone also found on the spiral staircase (top), cantilevered window sills, kitchen cabinets, parquet floors, and trim. Earlier this month, the 1989 property popped up on the market with a $744,900 price tag.
With its breeze-catching front porch, rockers, and kitchen garden, this 1939 cottage evokes old-time country living. Sort of. The home was overhauled in 2006. And it’s located across the street from a cluster of about 30 manufactured homes, some of which date back to the sixties. The home’s woodsy lot, which is more than a acre in Shepherd Park Plaza, is just west of N. Shepherd Dr. south of Pinemont Dr.
Oh, to be a fly on the heavily patterned wallpaper when statesmen and royalty make their appointments! In this home on Richelieu Ln. in Shepherd Park Plaza, for instance — what sage counsel was offered, followed?
A look at the royal treatment:
What’s going on at the corner of West 43rd St. and Ella in Oak Forest? A team of Swamplot photographers went to find out.
This is their report. It’s also known as Swamplot’s 3rd group photo feature. How’s it looking?
