With space for a 10-car fleet in its garage, parking (top) shouldn’t be a problem at this 2008 custom home in Lakeside Island, a niche neighborhood east of Wilcrest Dr. near Terry Hershey Park. The home lies at the end of a suspended walkway parallel to the driveway’s slope (above) on a ravine lot.  More stilts and steel shore up the back of the tri-level home, which looks across Buffalo Bayou. The propped-up property’s initial asking price when listed last Friday was $1.249 million, but the price had dropped to $1.229 million by Monday’s weigh-in.

Whole Foods Market will move into a portion of the soon-to-be-closing recently closed Randalls grocery store in the Westchase Shopping Center, landlord Weingarten Realty announced today. The 25,663-sq.-ft. Lacking frills but with a bit of grille at the front, this 1973 home in Briargrove Park presents a curbside scene that appears a bit basic when viewed from its circular driveway, located off the cul-de-sac out front (above). Inside, however, more private views span across the vaulted rooms (top) and into the fenced yard. The somewhat hidden home was listed Friday; it has an asking price of $449,000.

Previously packaged as a property combining home, pool, and horse-friendly grounds, this Rivercrest spread on more than 7 acres west of Gessner near Briar Forest was relisted this week — for lot value. The asking price is $2.9 million, a step down from the $3.199 million sought for 6 months ending April 2013. Since then, the back half of the property has been cleared. But horses are still welcome.

The 2-story atrium inside this 1977 Lakeside Estate townhome (top) comes with a fountain feature that’s dwarfed by overgrown plantings reaching toward the skylight. Could extra light bouncing from mirror to mirror downstairs have sent photosynthesis into overdrive?

THE END IN SIGHT FOR RANDALLS Randalls Grocery Store, 11041 Westheimer Rd., Westchase Shopping Center, Westchase, HoustonThe Randalls grocery store on the southeast corner of Westheimer and Wilcrest is a goner, reports Catie Dixon. And she tags the chain itself as the likely next casualty in the region’s ongoing grocery wars. Landlord Weingarten Realty, which also manages the Whole Foods Market across the street, sent out notice earlier this month that the space occupied by the former top-performing Randalls in the Westchase Shopping Center is now available for lease. But other new grocery stores are coming to the area: another 60 in the next 18 months, keeping up the recent pace, says broker Jason Baker — who also notes Trader Joe’s is experiencing “challenges” with its new store on S. Voss near Woodway. [Real Estate Bisnow; previously on Swamplot] Photo of Randalls at 11041 Westheimer Rd.: Weingarten Realty

A renovated 1974 “Contemporary” in Briargrove Park is a glass act, though currently without a curtain call; most windows come unadorned (top) and look over manicured lawns (above) of Zoysia grass. The peekaboo property appeared on the market a week ago with an asking price of $799,000. That seventies show of angles and tilted roofage (at right) shelters an open-floor-plan interior with natural light beaming in from many levels and directions.

Expanses of lime carpet inside this 1971 contempo-mod home on a cul-de-sac just east of Wilcrest and south of Buffalo Bayou in Lakeside Forest look a bit like the front lawn on an otherwise woodsy lot. At least it did in the initial photos (top) of the listing, which made it to the market on Friday. Freshened-up photos added Tuesday focused more closely on the clean bones of the place, which has an asking price of $688,000. It’s not the block’s biggest home, but it sits on the largest lot: 32,592 sq. ft.
