With space for a 10-car fleet in its garage, parking (top) shouldn’t be a problem at this 2008 custom home in Lakeside Island, a niche neighborhood east of Wilcrest Dr. near Terry Hershey Park. The home lies at the end of a suspended walkway parallel to the driveway’s slope (above) on a ravine lot.  More stilts and steel shore up the back of the tri-level home, which looks across Buffalo Bayou. The propped-up property’s initial asking price when listed last Friday was $1.249 million, but the price had dropped to $1.229 million by Monday’s weigh-in.

Apart from the snazzy red cars parked by the home’s courtyard entry, a flat-topped 1963 Hilshire Village property keeps a low profile beneath the canopy of mature trees on its large lot, which is located in the Burkhardt Plaza neighborhood west of Wirt Rd. and just north of the Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church on the eastbound I-10 feeder road. Updated in 2009, the midcentury modern with the not-so-modern decor landed on the market a week ago, asking $1.1 million. By the weekend, though, the price had dropped to $997,500.

Does Sisyphus do windows? With floor-to-ceiling expanses and sliders trimming a tree house of a home in Saddlecreek Village Estates, the adjacent woodlands provide most of the background art. Last week, the updated 1980 property landed on the market, with a listing that keeps the home’s façade a bit of a secret. It’s a split-level and has a $1.75 million asking price. Far into the woods of the Memorial Oaks section of Hunters Creek Village, a 1958 contemporary attributed to Houston architecture firm Neuhaus & Taylor seems to defy access. There is, however, a mini-driveway extending from a private road that peels off an equally discrete cul-de-sac street west of Wirt Rd. Originally, the secluded property also had ramps spanning the ravine lot’s “intermittent” stream bed of Briar Branch. Or so reported one of the daughters of the original owners in an online forum about 5 years back.
